Food & Wellbeing
At our school, good food provision is an important part of our commitment to Hope, Determination and Achievement. As a pupil referral unit, we recognise that many of our young people have experienced disruption, trauma or instability. We therefore prioritise consistent routines, high-quality nutrition and safe spaces as part of our strong pastoral care and safeguarding culture.
Free Meals for All Students
All food is provided free of charge to our students. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring that every child has equal access to nourishing food, regardless of background or circumstance.
Breakfast
We are committed to ensuring that every pupil starts the day ready to learn.
A healthy breakfast is provided free of charge to all students each morning, supporting both wellbeing and improved punctuality. Our breakfast provision is delivered in partnership with Magic Breakfast, a registered charity working to address child hunger in schools.
Beyond nutrition, breakfast provides a calm, supervised space. Pupils have the opportunity to settle, connect with trusted adults and peers, and begin the day in a safe and structured environment. This plays a significant role in supporting emotional regulation and by extension academic progress.

Healthy Choices - No Junk Food
Promoting healthy lifestyles is central to our ethos and to our wider work around wellbeing.
There are no vending machines on site and no confectionery, junk food or high-sugar snacks are available for purchase on the premises. Sugary or caffeinated soft drinks are not permitted. Fresh drinking water is available to all pupils throughout the day.
Free fruit is provided at break times to encourage positive habits and to ensure that all pupils have access to healthy snacks.
By maintaining clear expectations around food and drink, we reinforce our high standards while actively supporting pupils’ health and readiness to learn.
Lunch
Our lunch menu is published weekly in the canteen and is regularly reviewed to ensure it provides a balanced, varied and nutritious diet. All meals are freshly prepared on the premises each day by our catering team. We provide healthy, freshly cooked hot meals designed to sustain energy, support concentration and promote positive afternoon engagement.
For many of our pupils, school is a place of stability and care. Our food provision reflects this commitment.

Allergens
As part of our admissions process, we collect detailed information on students’ dietary requirements and any food‑related medical conditions. This information is securely recorded and shared with the catering team to ensure all meals meet individual needs and comply with allergen‑safety standards. We regularly review this information and ask parents to notify us immediately of any changes, so we can maintain a safe and well‑managed dining environment for all students.
