Admissions
Abbey Manor College is primarily a provision for young people who experience difficulties in managing in mainstream education, for a diverse range of reasons.
To this end, the majority of students have been permanently excluded, alongside students attending for short-term placements, usually between 6 – 12 weeks. This type of placement is for young people who are at high risk of permanent exclusion from their school. During the placement, their needs will be assessed and support given which will allow for successful reintegration.
Students, particularly those in KS4, may attend for longer term intervention placements. This allows their needs to be assessed, and support given to ensure that they achieve the qualifications needed for successful transition to Further Education.
Our aim is to:
- Give students a second chance at success both in and beyond their statutory education
- Raise the attainment of students excluded, or on the verge of permanent exclusion
- Provide support for school staff
- Develop inclusive approaches
- Involve and support parents and carers
- Promote the active involvement of other agencies
