Library
Our school library provides a calm and welcoming space where pupils can read, reflect, and focus on their emotional wellbeing. Research demonstrates that there is a link between young people’s reading skill and their overall learning and wellbeing.1
There is also a close link between reading for pleasure and educational outcomes. In fact, research has also shown that a young person’s educational success is more closely linked to their tendency to read for pleasure than their socioeconomic background. 2
Young people who read for pleasure even have higher earning potential than those who do not.
Alongside these economic benefits of young people reading for pleasure, there are a number of societal and personal benefits too - including creative thinking, empathy skills and imagination.
