GCSE Biology
The AQA GCSE Biology course covers a range of topics, including:
- Cell biology: Includes stem cells, adult stem cells, stem cells in plants, and therapeutic cloning
- Organisation: Includes the hierarchy of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems
- Infection and response: Includes topics related to keeping healthy
- Bioenergetics: Includes topics related to energy and biomass in food chains
- Homeostasis and response: Includes topics related to the menstrual cycle and IVF treatment
- Inheritance, variation, and evolution: Includes topics related to genetic variation and its control
- Ecology: Includes topics related to interdependence and adaptation
The course is taught in year 11, and is split into two papers:

Covers topics 1–4, including cell biology, organization, infection and response, and bioenergetics

Covers topics 5–7, including homeostasis and response, inheritance, variation and evolution, and ecology
Each paper lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes and includes multiple choice, structured, closed short answer, and open response questions.
