Our Commitment to Staff Wellbeing
Open and Supportive Leadership
Our Headteacher operates an open-door policy, welcoming discussion with all members of staff. Staff are encouraged to raise ideas, concerns, and suggestions openly, knowing they will be listened to and respected.
Professional reviews include dedicated 'You Said, I Did' sessions, where leadership shares how staff feedback has directly shaped school practice. A recent example of this was the introduction of an annual two-week half-term to support workload balance in the long Autumn session.
Governors receive regular reports to ensure that wellbeing remains a strategic priority across the school.
Professional Development and Career Progression
We are committed to long-term career development for all colleagues:
- Regular, high-quality professional development opportunities
- Tailored training and learning - aligned with DfE workload guidance
- Clear, supported progression pathways for all staff:
Many of our support staff have successfully progressed into teaching roles and senior leadership positions, supported throughout by structured mentoring and development.
Employee Support
All staff have access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), providing professional support for personal or work-related matters, including healthcare, wellbeing and financial guidance.

Dedicated Wellbeing Time
We recognise the importance of managing workload and protecting time:
- Regular Staff Wellbeing Days and Drop-Down Days
- Regular opportunities for collaboration and discussion
- Structured scheduling to align with DfE workload guidance
Valuing and Celebrating Our Staff
We want our staff to feel seen, supported, and professionally fulfilled.
As part of this, we recognise them in different ways:
- The option of end-of-term celebrations and meals
- The option of early finishes at key points
- Recognition of contribution - both formal and informal
