Attendance & Punctuality
Excellent attendance is one of the most important factors that will enable Abbey Manor College to provide the best support for students in achieving their personal goals and targets.
Students need to attend school regularly to benefit from their education and fulfil their potential - missing out on lessons leaves them vulnerable to falling behind.
The government expects:
- Schools to promote good attendance
- Parents & carers to perform their legal duty by ensuring their children attend regularly
- All students to be punctual to their lessons
Abbey Manor College Responsibilities
We provide a safe and supportive environment where every student can achieve their full potential. We actively promote the clear link between regular attendance, strong academic progress, and future opportunities.
Attendance is recorded twice daily and monitored closely by Form Tutors and the attendance team.
Where concerns arise, we will contact parents/carers promptly and work in partnership to provide appropriate support, including Individual Attendance Plans where necessary.
Parent/Carer Responsibilities
Parents and carers have a legal responsibility to ensure their child attends College regularly and punctually. Open and timely communication is essential to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Parents/carers are expected to:
- Notify the Form Tutor as early as possible on each day of absence
- Provide evidence for medical appointments where requested
- Attend meetings where attendance is a concern
- Work with the College to address barriers to regular attendance
Student Responsibilities
Students are expected to attend every day, arrive on time, and be ready to learn.
Students should speak to their Form Tutor or the attendance team if they need support to maintain good attendance.
Attendance and punctuality form part of our Behaviour for Learning expectations:
- Be Ready
- Be Respectful
- Be Safe
