Sports Studies

The OCR Cambridge National in Sport Studies Level 1/2 course covers a range of topics, including:

  • Contemporary issues: Students learn about issues in sport, such as funding, ethics, and role models.
  • Sports performance and leadership: Students learn about sports performance and leadership, and how to apply this to their own practical performance.
  • Sport and the media: Students learn about the role of the media in sport.
  • Outdoor and adventurous activities: Students learn about outdoor and adventurous activities.
  • Practical application: Students learn to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
  • Transferable skills: Students develop transferable skills such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork.

The course is assessed through a combination of internally marked coursework and an externally set and marked exam paper. Students are awarded a pass, merit, or distinction for both the exam and synoptic project, and their overall grade is also awarded in this way.

The course is designed to be practical and engaging, and to help students develop their ability to think for themselves about the study of sport.
