BTEC First in Business Level 2

Ever wanted to start your own business? Then this course is for you. Business encompasses a broad range of fields, including Retail, Human Resources, Finance, Law, Sales, Marketing and Administration.

Edexcel’s BTEC Level 2 in Business is designed to introduce learners to working in the Business sector or prepare them for further study. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

We will visit businesses and you will have the opportunity to complete work placements and even start your own mini business.

You will focus on a particular area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. The course is made up of 6 units: 3 core units and 3 specialist units.

With further training or study, learners may progress on to business-related careers such as Accounting, Administration, Customer Service, Finance, IT, Personnel or Sales. The course gives a very good preparation both for employment and more advanced courses such as a BTEC Level 3 in Business and later at university, degrees in Business, Finance and Management.

In this unit you will understand the costs involved in business and how businesses make a profit; understand how businesses plan for success and understand how businesses measure success and identify areas for improvement.

3 (mandatory synoptic)

Enterprise in the Business World

In this unit you will know how trends and the current business environment may impact on a business; plan an idea for a new business and present a business model for a business start-up.

Promoting a Brand

In this unit you will explore the use of branding and the promotional mix in business; develop and promote a brand for a business.
