Art and Design Practice

The BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Art and Design Practice is a course that helps students develop creative skills and gain an understanding of the art and design industry. The course is 100% practical and does not include written exams.

Course structure

Students complete component 1 in the first two years and component 2 in year 11.

Components

Component 1 is Creative Practice in Art and Design, and component 2 is Responding to a Brief.

Learning outcomes

Students develop practical skills and learn to apply art and design principles to realistic vocational contexts.

Teaching methods

Students learn through practical research and investigation, including experimentation with materials, techniques, and processes.

Total qualification time

150 hours, including 120 hours of guided learning.
