Music Practice

The BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Music Practice is a course that helps students develop music-related skills and techniques, and explore potential careers in the music industry. The course includes:

  • Learning components

Students learn about different musical products and styles, develop music production skills, and respond to a music brief.

  • Assessment

The course includes an externally assessed unit, and other units are assessed internally. Students receive feedback on their progress throughout the course.

  • Presentation

Students present their original creation as a solo or group performance, audio recording, or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) project.

  • Personal skills

Students also develop personal skills such as self-development, planning, and time management.

  • Potential careers

Students can explore potential careers in the music industry, such as performer or teacher, or other careers such as arts administration, media, journalism, and medicine.

The course is designed to be easy for teachers to deliver and administer, and to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their capability.
