BTEC First in Music Level 2
The Music course offers you the opportunity to learn using professional music technology equipment and to learn and play instruments. You are given a choice of instrument to learn including piano, guitar, drum kit, bass guitar or vocals.
The course covers a range of musical styles and you will learn about four main areas of music- the industry, recording, performance and composition. Students will learn mainly through practical sessions and visits from professional musicians.
Collaborations with Media, Art and Digital Arts are an essential part of the course. You are expected to produce a portfolio of work including your own compositions, videos of performances and participation in workshops.
The Level 2 qualification can lead to courses in Further Education such as Level 3 in Music, Music Technology and Performing Arts. University courses include degrees in Sound Production, Music Performance and Performing Arts.
The future career opportunities are endless but include performer, session musician, composer, concert promoter, artist manager, producer, tutor, youth worker or workshop leader, sound engineer and stage technician.
