BTEC First in Information Technology Level 2
This qualification is the first step in a career in the IT industry. It is a vocational or work-related qualification which means that you will have the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to your future career.
The course is made up of core, optional specialist and optional generic units. One of the core units you will have to complete is unit 3 – A Digital Portfolio. This involves the creation and maintenance of a digital portfolio to showcase your work. It is a series of web pages with links to content that you have created. You will learn how to make use of multimedia assets such as images, sound and video to make your portfolio more appealing and engaging.
Other Units are Unit 1- The Online World and Unit 2 – Technology Systems in which you will be learning about online services and communication and how components of technology systems work together.
Students on this course can progress on to Level 3 qualifications such as BTEC Level 3 in IT or an IT/Creative Media apprenticeship and A(S) Level in ICT or Computing. University courses include degrees in Computer Science, Programming and Engineering.
