BTEC First in Health and Social Care Level 2
The Health and Social Care course covers a variety of aspects from the Health and Social Care sector. Throughout the course you will learn how to work as a professional, treating service users with respect and dignity. You will also learn how activities and situations can be adapted to suit the varying needs of individuals.
The units you will study include Equality and Diversity, Health and Social Care Values, Human Lifespan Development, Effective Communication, Promoting Health and Wellbeing, Healthy Living and Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing.
Assessment is carried out mostly through internally assessed coursework but you will also be required to complete a small number of externally marked tests.
As well as completing written work you will take part in practical activities that will prepare you for working within a range of Health and Social Care settings. The course will also involve trips that will help to deepen your understanding of the concepts covered in class.
This course gives you valuable experience if you want to go on to a career within the Health and Social Care Sector for example childcare, nursing or caring. You can progress to study Level 3 in Health and Social Care which can then lead on to university for example a degree in Health and Social Care, Nursing or Early Childhood Studies.
